A. Midani Residence, Rio de Janeiro, 1980

Casa Claudia Magazine 1992

Designed and built by José Zanine Caldas in Rio de Janeiro, the house portrayed in the essay was the property of musical producer André Midani, considered by Billboard as one of the most important names in the International music industry. From the 50s on to the 90s, Midani greatly contributed to the emergence and dissemination of Bossa Nova in the 50s, and Tropicalia in the 60s, launching artists such as Tom Jobim, João Gilberto and Nara Leão; Elis Regina, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Mutantes, and others.

In his house, built at the end of the 1970s, Midani chose to highlight one of the most emblematic designs from that time: the Rio Chaise Longue, created by Anna Maria and Oscar Niemeyer in 1978. This piece, produced by Tendo Brasileira between 1979 and 1982, conserves the original canning and manufacture label.
